چکیده

Page 1 This report is intended to summarize basic functionality requirements for the facility calibration unit. The specifications outlined here are derived from material reviewed at recent IRISWG, OISWG, and GSC meetings, during September and October, 1994, as well as from individual contributions. The main difference between V1.0 and V1.1 of this document is that I have structured V1.1 on an instrument-byinstrument basis as much as possible, to help determine which instruments are driving calibration unit design specifications. The most recent GMOS calibration requirements have also been included. Requirements for the near infrared spectrograph and mid infrared imager are forthcoming, pending information from the groups responsible for these instruments.

Calibration of the RADARSAT SWB Processor at the Alaska SAR Facility

Calibration of the RADARSAT ScanSAR Wide B (SWB) processor at the Alaska SAR Facility (ASF) was completed at the end of 1998, making ASF one of the world’s first synthetic aperture radar (SAR) processing facilities to distribute calibrated ScanSAR data to its users. SWB is one of several imaging modes onboard Canada’s RADARSAT Cband SAR satellite. In the SWB beam-mode, wide-swath coverage of 45...

PTB’s “Hydrodynamic Test Field” - Investigations to Verify the Measurement Uncertainty Budget

Establishing a national liquid flow standard that meets the accuracy requirements of modern industry makes necessary the application of up-to-date instrumentation devices in a calibration facility and appropriate test and verification procedures applied on this facility. The participation of PTB’s new water flow facility in the international key comparison test of the CIPM; CCM.FF-K1, provided ...

Calibration of the CERTIFIER Air Velocity Calibrator Using a Laser Doppler Velocimeter (LDV)

Introduction Traditionally a Pitot-static tube connected to a pressure transducer is used to make air velocity measurement. Lately, velocity transducers based on the principle of convective heat transfer have become popular. Both types of transducers need occasional calibrations. Also, several regulatory agencies require that the calibration of velocity transducers used in certain applications ...

New photometric calibration programmes at the National Institute of Standards and Technology

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) candela is maintained via standard photometers which have shown long-term stability of better than 0.1 % per year. The detector-based method has allowed us to reduce the uncertainties of calibrations and to expand the range of calibration capabilities. There have been several new developments in photometry at the NIST. A high-illuminance...

A Calibration and Quality Assurance Program for Environmental Radon Measurements

The ideal facility for assessing the quality of radon measurements at environmental levels consists of: (1) an instrument whose response to radon and its progeny is determined from measurements of a certified or standard 226Ra source, and (2) a calibration room with a known radon concentration. The linkage between these two elements and additional quality control requirements are discussed here...
